|About This Act :|
|Doug Cameron is one of the true innovators of the contemporary and electric violin. With eight CD’s to his credit, Cameron has long been a favorite on jazz radio internationally. An arranger and composer as well, Doug’s CD’s feature many of his own compositions, a number of which will be performed this evening. A veteran of the Los Angeles studio Scene, Doug has recorded and performed with a wide range of artists, including George Benson, Doc Severinsen, Tom Petty, Cher, The Allman Brothers, Dionne Warwick and many others as well as numerous motion pictures and commercials. Currently recording for the Higher Octave Label (distributed by Virgin), Doug keeps busy with his recording schedule which includes an album every year or so. He lives and records in Los Angeles, where he has a full recording studio in his home and also enjoys having the talents of many of L.As top studio musicians and recording artists at his disposal. Many jazz luminaries appear as special guests on Doug’s Various CD’s, including David Benoit, Lee Ritenour, Boney James, Joe Sample, Russ Freeman from “The Rippingtons” and Russ Ferrante from “The Yellowjackets”.
Doug performs from time to time as a featured headliner on cruise ships and has become one of the highest regarded performers in the industry. He performed on the inaugural cruise for the new Queen Mary 2, which is the largest cruise ship in the world. Doug will sail to Bali Indonesia aboard the famous Queen Elizabeth II where he will be departing to perform in this festival.
One of Doug’s focuses has been working with young musicians in a master class/workshop setting. Last year Doug performed with Purwa Caraka and his orchestra at Pentas Seni Kemerdekaan. Doug performed his music in an inspiring concert and also played with 50 young Indonesian violinists. Doug was also well received at Jock Jakarta music schools where he also worked with young musicians.
